CLASSROOM COVENANT

In this classroom I have a right:

• to be happy and treated with kindness.

No one will laugh at me.
No one will ignore me.
No one will hurt my feelings.

• to be myself.

No one will treat me unfairly because I am a boy or a girl.
No one will treat me differently because I am fat or thin.
No one will make fun of me if I am slow or fast.

• to be safe.

No one will kick or punch me.
No one will hit or pinch me.
No one will trip me or hurt me in any way.
No one will make unkind comments about me.

• to be heard and to listen to others.

No one will speak when someone else is talking.
No one will yell, scream, or shout without permission.
No one will tell me that my opinions are not worthwhile.

• to learn for myself and about myself.

I can express my feelings.
I can ask questions and be respected.
I can offer my opinions without being interrupted or punished.

Each person in the classroom is a child of God. Each person has a right to be loved as God loves. Sometimes we may not agree. Sometimes we may not like another person’s actions, but we will try to show God’s love for the person at all times.
